Class Discussion
We didn’t have class on Friday because we didn’t have school so Friday was our last class of the week! Mr. Schick decided to make it like a college class so we didn’t use our laptops or took notes, we just had a discussion. We talked about the Greeks and some old stories that were told ages ago. The story was about prisoners that were kept in this cave ever since they were little kids and had chains around their legs so they couldn’t move. They had to sit and stare at a wall for their whole life! There was a big fire behind them but they could not see it because they couldn’t turn around. Some people, that weren’t prisoners, would use signs that looked like animals and people and walk across this bridge and carry the signs. The signs would create an image on the walls in front of the prisoners and the prisoners would try to guess what the image was. The images usually would tell a story. The prisoners would play games to try to guess what each of the sings were and would get a prize. We talked about how if those prisoners were given the chance to be set free and live in the real world would they? They know nothing other than what they learned being a prisoner in a dark cave! I say that personally, if I were the prisoner, I would want to be set free but I wouldn’t know what to do or how to live on my own! It would be very difficult.

Took the test
We had our test today and I thought it went pretty well. Mr. Schick showed me the test in advisory and I thought it would be very hard but I thought it was alright! We got to use our blogs and luckily I had a lot of notes in my blog! It was very helpful because I think that I did really good! I really need a good grade in this class because I am only a point away from an A. I really hope to get straight A's by the end of the year. I have been trying my best to study as much as I can to bring up all of my grades. I'm really happy we got to use our blogs and I will be sure to put more notes in my blogs now just incase we are allowed to use it. We had a map on the test that I wasn't sure of where the places where ( the seas). I tried my best to remember what it was and I hope I got it right. I hop to get the test back soon so I can see how I did and hopefully it will bring up my grade!

Test Tomorrow
Today in class we watched more of the Greek video to review for the test. Tomorrow is our test which is on the people of Greece. We have a quizlet we can study, a worksheet, and we can also watch the video again. I get very confused when it comes to dates and people. It's hard for me to remember who is who. I've been reviewing the quizlet and I think I will do pretty well on the test. I really want to get straight A's so I hope I can bring up my grade in this class. I am one point away from an A! I need to do great on this test so I can get the A I really want. I am going to review the powerpoint a few more times to make sure I know all the vocabulary. There will be a lot of information on this test so I hope I can keep it all straight and come out with a good grade!

Test Next Week
We haven't had class much this week because of the snow and the meeting all the teachers had to go to. We were supposed to have a test tomorrow but since we haven't had much class time, Mr. Schick rescheduled the test. He said that the test should be sometime next week. That is fine with me because I still need some time to study. Mr. Schick needed a little time to catch up with things so we were able to sit and talk. I sat with Carly and Hailey and talked with them then helped them study for their math test. At the very end of class Mr. Schick asked us who was preparing for drivers ed. Most of us raised our hands and then Mr. Schick showed us a video of people recklessly driving! It was very funny! Today was a very easy class and even though we probably won't be allowed, I wouldn't mind having another class like that!

Preparing for test
Today in class we went over some review cards for the test that is on Friday. Mr. Schick found a quizlet from a kid in the school (who is now a junior) and he showed us and quizzed us. We found out that tomorrow we will be in the auditorium for class because there is a workshop going on and a lot of our teachers will be there. We have an assignment to do tomorrow while we are there and it is a few review questions and short answers. While we were reviewing on the quizlet not a lot of us knew the answers. I think we will have to study a little more to be prepared for the test. I copied the link of the quizlet and saved it in my favorites tab on chrome so i will be sure I have it to study. I got a very good grade on my last quiz so I hope I can prepare as well as I did last time so I can get another good grade. We did not do much in class today other than study. That is okay with me because I need to be sure I have enough preparation to do well on this test.

Greek Movie cont.
We continued with watching the Greek movie to fill out the rest of the worksheet. We had a sub today because Mr. Schick wasn't here. Our sub was Mrs. Snook. The movie took up about the whole class but it was a little boring. I still think it is better than taking notes though. We need to finish filling out the worksheet for homework if we don't finish the video. I think we are going to have a test on this so I need to make sure I have all the correct answers.

Review Paper
We did not do anything too important in class today. Since all of the commercials were finished we just decided to go over the paper we got when we had to watch a movie. We went through most of the answers but did not finish all of them because class was too short. We had a two hour delay because this morning because we could not get the heat working so all of the classes were short! We got to the back and up to the last couple questions but still did not finish. We did not have all of them filled in either because we aren't that far yet in this lesson! Tomorrow we will probably move a little further in the lesson and finish going over the paper.

Presentations
We did not do much in class today because we were presenting
our commercials. Everyone went except one group who will be presenting
tomorrow. Hailey, Carly and I did a great job performing our commercial! I think
ours was one of the best out of the whole class. We added music to ours which
no one else did. It was creative also and I think Mr. Schick liked it. We all
contributed equally to the project and worked very well together. All of the
commercials looked very good as well. We hope to get a good grade because we
worked hard and it took a little while to put together! Making the video was
not hard but the story boards we had to do were a little confusing. I think our
commercial could have made someone want to come to Athens especially with our
special Greek music!

Finishing The Video
In class today we finished the Greek video by ourselves. Mr. Schick wasn't here so Mr. Perry was our sub. We had to finish the video and write down the answers of the questions on the paper we got earlier this week. Some of us did not have earphones, even though we were supposed to have them, so some people sat with another person so they could listen. We had two shadows today and one I knew! His name was Tyler and he went to my old school He was shadowing with Matt Battaglia. We did not get to talk at all because we had to finish the video today. Carly Hailey and I have to finish our commercial this weekend as well. We don't have that much left so it shouldn't take that long! We hope to get a good grade because we worked hard on it!

Project time
Today instead of watching the movie on Greece Mr. Schick gave us some time to work on our commercials instead. Hailey Carly and I got a lot of work done today! There is still more to do but I think we will definitely finish before Tuesday! Were doing our best and making it very neat and were hoping to get a great grade! Tomorrow is senior retreat tso Mr. Schick along with 22 other teachers won't be there. Mr. Perry is our sub and we are supposed to watch the Greece movie with him.

Greek Video
Today in class we did the same thing we did yesterday. We watched the video about ancient Greece. It wasn't too bad because it's a little better than taking notes all class. All the classes were shorter today because it was Ash Wednesday and we had church. We did not have much class time in any of my classes so we tried to do all we could. I'm not sure how long this video is but there are a lot of questions on the paper so it must be pretty long. Throughout the video Mr. Schick will stop it and explain things. He also likes to stop it and make fun of the professors voices which is really funny! The paper we are filling out is apparently a study guide so I have to be sure to make sure I have all the write answers so I do well on the next quiz!

The Greeks
We got a worksheet in the beginning of class that we were supposed to fill out while watching a video about Ancient Athens and Sparta. We were talking a lot in the beginning of the class though because some of us were confused about the commercial project we have to do. The video was about ancient Greece and every once and a while after watching a scene in the video Mr. Schick would pause it and tell us to fill out one of the questions. I liked doing this worksheet because it was a change from taking notes every class. I like taking notes but sometimes it can get boring so the worksheet was fine with me! Mr. Schick's daughter Martha also came to visit today and she seemed very nice! We were reminded that we have to finish our commercials so that means Carly, Hailey and I have to get working! Our commercial will be great we just have to get started first!

Snow Day
Today we had no school because it snowed again! I am starting to get really sick of the snow because I hate doing all the extra work and I miss the warm weather! We did not have class today so we weren't assigned any work except to blog. On Friday we were assigned a project to make a commercial to either promote Athens or Sparta and we have to explain and convince our class why they would want to live in one of those places. We got to work with groups which I am very happy about. My group is Hailey Carly and I and I think we are going to create a great commercial! We aren't sure what place we are going to base our commercial about but it is due on Friday so we have sometime! Hopefully we will be able to work on this in class so we don't have to do it all outside of school! This project seems like it will be a lot of fun!
